Downtown Tokyo has more than 100 non-professional
orchestra playing weekly and monthly performance.
The groups are listed below under three categories,
Company Limited (Kigyo, Kaisha), Public (Shimin,
Kumin, Chiiki) and University or College
(Daigaku). Japanese musicians are also famous
to the world as the music companies like
Yamaha, Kawai and Suzuki. Many of Japanese
children have much chances to play some musical
instrument. Those amateur symphony orchestra
and philharmonic orchestra are always recruiting
good performancers all year around.
Not like professional orchestra, tickets
are usually zero yen to around JPY1,500 which
is very-very cheap in terms of their high
quality. Asakusa also holds every year, usually
in June, since end of World War 2. Ueno Park
has music hall (Tokyo Bunka Kaikan) for
both professional and amateur, actually those
amateur who can play at the hall should be
as good as professionals.
