| JAPAN RAIL PASS |
|
Japan Rail Pass is a special ticket that is available only
to travelers visiting Japan from foreign
countries for sightseeing. It cannot be purchased
inside Japan. If you did Tokyo - Kyoto -
Tokyo with normal tickets, it is almost equivalent
to the Japan Rail Pass (7 days pass). For
Narita - Tokyo - Nagano - Kyoto - Tokyo -
Narita, it is not wise to purchase Japan
Rail Pass (14 days pass),but 7 days pass would pay it off (although,
too hassle in rush to do the itinerary within
a week).
Better not to cover Tokyo city itself by
this Japan Rail Pass (JR Pass) because there
are cheaper pass options for the downtown.

reservation of seats ONLY in Japanese.
To make a reservation, apply at a Travel
Service Center (View Plaza) or a reservation
office (midori-no-madoguchi) at a JR station.
There, show your Pass, and obtain your reserved-seat
ticket before boarding. |

| NIGHT TRAIN |
| The Pass cannot be used for the sleeper (berth)
class, although, followings have some normal
seats which JR Pass holders can take without
surcharge. Some of the seats are lie-flat
carpet, so they should not be called "seats".
Anyway, it is worth to check your night train
has this special facilities before boarding.
Sometime seasonal, but pink-color-highlight trains are the one. |
